In June of 2007, KNBC Channel 4 News featured Roni Blak and the role her studio MNR Dance Factory played in supporting the New Orleans dance community. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, MNR sponsored students from the New Orleans Ballet Association, opening its doors to the affected dancers so that they could continue their training and rehearse for their upcoming tour.

As Roni notes in the above news clip, it can be overwhelming to confront problems that seem so much bigger than us. Yet, the best we can do is use what we know and love (in our case, a passion for dance) to help those around us.

It is this feeling and drive to help others that inspired Roni to found Blak & Blue Dance Project. BBDP brings to life Roni’s vision of using dance to support and benefit our surrounding communities.
